Summerside Summer Program Activities

In 2011 the City of Summerside will offer our community a wide range of recreational, leisure and cultural activities sure to entertain the young and old. Credit Union Place Complex will once again be the focal point of activities with other City facilities (Canada Games Complex, Green Shores Beach Hut, Wilmot Community Centre, Wyatt Heritage Properties and City wide parks and playgrounds) also being utilized.

The 2011 Summer Program will also tap into the resources of the City’s Wyatt Heritage Properties Division which will offer a wide range of heritage and cultural opportunities sure to catch the imagine of the young and old at heart.

The City’s newest jewel is the Canada Games Complex located just north of Credit Union Place. This new facility includes a lighted turf field (Soccer / Football / Lacrosse / Field Hockey), lighted tennis courts, beach volleyball facility, a BMX Park and an outdoor concert facility. This facility will be the home of specialized sports camps during the summer of 2011.

The summer camps will be held from July 4th thru August 26th inclusive. The day camp will comprise of Sports, Recreation, Theatre, Music and Dance, Arts and Science and Adventures. Details on these camps and other scheduled programming will be released in mid-June.

Summer Program staff will also supervise the 3 City water parks (Centennial, Fairview and Notre Dame), Monday thru Friday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and the Green Shore & Beach Hut every evening Monday thru Friday from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. (July 4th thru August 27th).

Registration fees are set at $30 per week or $240 for the 8 week program.

Summerside United Soccer Club, Play Development and Coaches Symposium

May 27th – 29th, 2011

Summerside United Soccer (SUSC), supported by Prince Edward Island Soccer Association (PEISA), and the City of Summerside,  is bringing national soccer experience and expertise to Summerside in late May. Three coaches with national team experience will be in the province to work with players and coaches;  these clinics will give Island and Maritime players and coaches an opportunity to work with and learn from coaches who have contributed in Canadian Players having international success.

The Player Development Clinic is open to all players ages 10 through 18.  Players can expect approximately seven (7) hours of field instruction over the course of the weekend, plus games ($79.99).  Registrations are now being accepted.  The Coaching Symposium is open to all coaches, regardless of their level or experience. The Symposium will consist of four one (1) hour field sessions, followed by program review and discussion time ($25.00).
